PGA of America professional Larry Hadden of Shawnee Golf and Country Club in Kansas just became a Certified Putting Instructor and looks forward to helping his members and students putt better.
“I haven’t been through anything like the Certified Putting Instructor Course before. In PGA education there was more on the complete swing but not a lot of putting or the science of putting. I was pleased to take the CPI Course to get more background and understanding.
“The setup and posture stood out as something new that made a lot of sense and it was easy to apply to my own game and to anyone’s game.
CPI Hadden, a PGA of America member since 1997, made some discoveries when putting into practice what he learned in the CPI Course.
“Overall the course was very detailed and lots of it was brand new to me. Since taking the course I realize that many students should be putting with a shorter putter. The lessons I have given so far have resulted in students being fitted for a shorter putter than they were previously using, as well as adjusting their setup position.
“The straighter arm hang has helped me personally with the rhythm of my putting stroke and has smoothed out my stroke. I have seen how it helps control the speed of the ball to the hole in both short and long putts.”
CPI Hadden is looking forward to mid March when the weather turns and he can do more putting lessons and share his techniques with his members and at his junior camp at Shawnee Golf and Country Club which in 2018 was given the Award for Junior Golf Growth from the Kansas City Golf Association.
Frank Thomas, founder of Frankly Golf, former longtime USGA Technical Director, inventor of the graphite shaft and the person who introduced the Stimpmeter to the game of golf said
“It is always rewarding to hear the experiences of professionals who have taken the CPI Course and in Larry’s case he has benefitted significantly from every aspect of the CPI Course curriculum. Well done Larry, we are very proud of you and know that you are going to excel in putting instruction and help your members at Shawnee Golf and Country Club.”
